He has worked as a freelance
presenter for radio and TV, and variously as game show host, narrator
(Facade, Peter
and the Wolf, etc), compere, MC, toastmaster and town crier.
Theatre
Simon Fisher-Becker's improvisation
skills and considerable presence make him an ideal stage
performer. He has appeared eighteen pantomimes, playing villains
such as King Rat in Dick
Whittington and dames including Dame
Trot inDick Whittington,
Nursey inSinbad's Most Excellent Adventureand
Ugly Sister in Cinderella.
Other theatre ranges from Mr Bumble
in Oliver to Duncan
and Ross in The
Scottish Play.
Hamlet: Tragedy of a Fat Man
But perhaps the most demanding
of all Simon's roles is that of Max
Thornbury in Hamlet:Tragedy
of a Fat Man, a one man show specially written for him
by Paddy Gormley: HTFM
was premiered in 2002 at the Etcetera
Theatre, Camden, London and has completed a nationwide
tour.
The play shows Simon's
full range as an actor, with such diverse characters as Janet
of the Apes (Ophelia), Splosher
(children's TV show presenter), a Sumo wrestling Laertes
("a very palpable arm lock!"), Sid
the Serial Strangler and of course the deeply disturbed
Max.
Hamlet:
Tragedy of a Fat Man is available for public and private
performance either on its own (45 minutes) or in a double bill
with The Fall by Albert
Camus, performed by Clive Ward
